Indian Railways announces 1,225 special trains for Mahakumbh 2025, ensuring smooth travel for millions of pilgrims heading to Prayagraj and nearby holy sites.

Exciting news for train travelers! Indian Railways is set to operate 1,225 special trains for Mahakumbh 2025. Reports suggest that approximately 40 crore people are expected to visit Sangam City, traveling by trains, roads, and flights to participate in this grand event. In preparation, Indian Railways has made extensive plans to facilitate pilgrim transport to Prayagraj.

Pilgrims visiting Prayagraj often extend their journey to iconic destinations like Ayodhya and Kashi. To accommodate this, Indian Railways is introducing several MEMU special trains that will operate for shorter distances. These trains will stop at key stations such as Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Rambagh. Additionally, visitors can explore nearby attractions, with special train services connecting Prayagraj to cities like Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Banda, Mankipur, Fatehpur, Govindpuri, and Orai.

Out of the 1,225 special trains planned, 825 will serve short-distance routes, while 400 will cater to long-distance travel. This marks a significant 177% increase compared to Kumbh Mela 2019, during which 533 short-distance and 161 long-distance trains were operated.

To address common concerns about train schedules and ticket availability, Indian Railways has launched a dedicated helpline and mobile app for Mahakumbh 2025. Travelers can call the toll-free number 1800-4199-139 to get round-the-clock assistance. The app will also provide up-to-date information, ensuring a seamless travel experience for worshippers.
