Guwahati: In anticipation of increased passenger demand, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced that it will operate 238 special trains during the upcoming 2024-25 festive season. These special services will connect key destinations, including Amritsar, Bengaluru, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Kolkata, Anand Vihar, and Shri Ganganagar, while also improving interconnectivity within the NFR zone, reaching cities such as Agartala, Naharlagun, Silchar, New Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, and Katihar.
This initiative is part of a larger effort by Indian Railways, which will run approximately 6,556 special trains from October 1 to November 30, 2024, to accommodate the surge in travelers. The increased services are designed to reduce waitlists and ensure smooth travel for individuals journeying to celebrate festivals like Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.
Compared to 2023, when Indian Railways operated 4,429 special trains, the 2024 festive season will see a significant rise in train operations, ensuring a more comfortable travel experience for millions of passengers.
