BIG boost to rail infra: Rs 2500 crore investment! Jupiter Wagons’ subsidiary to roll out 1 lakh wheelsets

Jupiter Wagons Limited’s (JWL) subsidiary Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory Private Limited (JTRFPL), is set to manufacture One lakh forged wheelsets per annum. For this, the JTRFPL will establish a new plant in Odisha with an investment of around Rs 2500 crore.
On Tuesday, Jupiter Wagons informed that it changed its subsidiary name – Bonatrans India Private Limited to Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory Private Limited. The move will further boost the railway infrastructure in India.

Jupiter Wagons’ plant in Odisha
Currently, the production capacity of Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory Private Limited is 20,000 forged wheelsets per annum. The new facility in Odisha is expected to be fully operational by 2027. Once completed, it will serve both domestic and international markets, with approximately 50 per cent of the production capacity dedicated to exports, primarily to its partner Tatravagonka AS and other European players.
“This move aligns with the company’s strategy to support the “Make in India” initiative, boosting India’s manufacturing capabilities and strengthening the company’s role in the global supply chain,” the JWL said in a statement.

Jupiter Wagons’ manufacturing business to improve
The new project will further boost the operational efficiency of Jupiter Wagons’ wagon manufacturing business through complete backward integration. This will not only streamline production processes but also ensure superior quality control, and secure the timely availability of critical components for its wagon manufacturing operations. The move will also strategically elevate the company’s business model and further strengthen its margin profile.
