The Bhopal Metro project reached a significant milestone with the successful launch of a 400-ton, 65-metre-long Rail Over Bridge (RoB) at Habibganj Naka. The installation, completed in just 3 hours, highlights the coordinated efforts between MPM and Indian Railways, advancing the metro’s priority corridor.
The Bhopal Metro Priority Corridor project is progressing with key developments aimed at improving urban transit. The project focuses on enhancing connectivity within the city, facilitating a smoother public transportation experience. Significant strides have been made in its execution, which will play a crucial role in boosting mobility and reducing traffic congestion in Bhopal. MD, Shri S. Krishna Chaitanya congratulated the entire team and thanked Indian Railways for their unwavering support.
Key Updates of Bhopal Metro Project:
Corridor Stretch: The Bhopal Metro project features two corridors—Karond Circle to AIIMS (14.99 km) and Bhadbhada Square to Ratnagiri Tiraha (12.88 km). The Karond-AIIMS section includes both elevated and underground segments, contributing to a modern urban transport network.
Milestone Achievements: The project has made significant progress, such as the completion of precast concrete girders from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS, covering eight stations. This is a critical achievement for the metro’s Priority Corridor, advancing Bhopal’s infrastructure development.
Cutting-Edge Trains: Alstom is providing 52 advanced metro train sets, equipped with the latest Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) systems. These trains will operate at a top speed of 80 km/h, enhancing urban mobility in both Bhopal and Indore.
Sustainability Focus: The trains feature energy-efficient propulsion systems with regenerative braking, along with eco-friendly designs aimed at reducing energy consumption, contributing to a greener urban transport system.
‘Make in India’ Initiative: The Bhopal Metro project, part of the government’s push for local manufacturing, boosts India’s infrastructure and aligns with the ‘Make in India’ initiative by supporting domestic production and technological advancements.
Conclusion:
This remarkable feat showcases the seamless collaboration between MPM and Indian Railways, setting new standards for infrastructure development. The timely execution of the RoB installation underscores the project’s focus on efficiency and innovation, further accelerating Bhopal’s metro network expansion.
