The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) made history by rolling out the 75000th coach since its inception in 1955. The premier coach factory has been driving India’s rolling stock programme over the past 68 years. ICF has reinvented itself with every passing era by adopting modern technologies and production techniques that enabled it to better its own standards year after year.
Sets Manufacturing Records:
From a humble beginning of 74 coaches in the year 1957-58, ICF is manufacturing nearly 3000 coaches per year now.
It is only an icing on the cake that the 75000th coach is part of 69th rake of Vande Bharat train set. This includes 875 coaches exported to various countries.
While manufacturing 75000 coaches in less than 75 years in itself is a glorious achievement, what makes it even sweeter is the fact that they all belong to different varieties and designs.
ICF is now geared up to manufacture variants in Vande Bharat coaches like Metro coaches, sleeper coaches, etc. while at the same time improving the aesthetics and quality.
Journey that’s Define ICF Capabilities:
From manufacturer of giant metal structures moving on the rails, ICF relied on the inner strength of its engineers who continuously propelled innovation and, after successfully manufacturing self-propelled coaches like Electric Multiple Units (EMU), Diesel Electric Multiple Units (DEMU), High Speed Accident Relief Train, AC EMU and luxury tourism coaches like Golden Chariot, Maharaja’s Express, Kolkata Metro, today they have embarked on a mission to manufacture different variants of semi-high speed train sets called Vande Bharat coaches.
ICF has won many laurels on the way, showcasing its prowess in coach manufacturing, ingrained quality, environment and social responsibility. Shri. U. Subba Rao, General Manager, ICF, congratulated the employees, after inspecting the coach, on this stupendous achievement.
