Indian Railways ramps up service with 9,111 trips to meet summer’s high travel demand, enhancing tourism across India.

To accommodate the growing number of travelers during the summer season and to handle the expected increase in travel, Indian Railways has launched an unprecedented 9,111 trips. This is a significant jump from the 6,369 trips recorded in the previous summer of 2023, reflecting an enhancement of 2,742 trips. This initiative underscores Indian Railways’ dedication to effectively address the needs of its passengers.

A strategic plan has been developed to deploy additional trains connecting major cities and critical destinations throughout India, ensuring efficient travel across prominent railway lines. All regional railway zones are prepared to manage these extra journeys, aiming to facilitate the summer travel surge in numerous states including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and many others.

The allocation of trips across various zonal railways includes:

  • Central Railway: 488 trips
  • Eastern Railway: 254 trips
  • East Central Railway: 1,003 trips
  • East Coast Railway: 102 trips
  • North Central Railway: 142 trips
  • Northeastern Railway: 244 trips
  • Northeast Frontier Railway: 88 trips
  • Northern Railway: 778 trips
  • Northwest Railway: 1,623 trips
  • South Central Railway: 1,012 trips
  • Southeastern Railway: 276 trips
  • Southeast Central Railway: 12 trips
  • Southwest Railway: 810 trips
  • Southern Railway: 239 trips
  • West Central Railway: 162 trips
  • Western Railway: 1,878 trips
  • Total: 9,111 trips

The ongoing planning and operation of these additional trains are dynamic, with continuous updates based on various inputs such as media, social media, and direct feedback from passengers. These insights help to fine-tune the number and frequency of trips to meet the specific travel demands along different routes.

To ensure safety and comfort during this busy period, measures such as the provision of drinking water at stations and crowd control strategies are in place. Senior officers oversee major stations to organize and manage the influx of passengers effectively. Moreover, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel are assigned to key points like entry gates and foot-over bridges to maintain order and prevent any potential crowd-related incidents.

Indian Railways remains dedicated to ensuring a pleasant and hassle-free journey for all its passengers throughout the high-demand summer months.
