BHUBANESWAR: Boudh district is going to get a place on railway map very soon as the Railways rolled out an engine from Purunapani station to Jharmunda station on Saturday. It was a test run before commissioning of the 22km-long section of Khurda Road-Balangir new line (301km) project.
So far, 152.8km of rail line of this project has been commissioned.
Construction progresses simultaneously from both Khurda Road and Balangir sides. The Railways is running trains in the stretches of 105.8 km from Khurda Road to Daspalla and 47km from Balangir to Sonepul
Last month, a train was flagged off from Sonepur to Puri via Balangir. Recently, the commission of railway safety (CRS) has completed inspection on the 8km stretch from Sonepur to Purunapani in Boudh district.
