It has undertaken several projects including laying of new railway tracks, doubling of lines, electrification, redevelopment of stations, construction of ROBs, launching of new trains etc. In this context, the Ahiran-Sujnipara doubling project of West Bengal deserves special mention.
The Ahiran-Sujnipara rail project is a part of the Manigram-Nimtita doubling project. It falls under the administrative jurisdiction of Eastern Railway (ER). Recently, the national transporter has shared the latest developments on this prestigious infrastructure project.
Latest status on Ahiran-Sujnipara rail doubling project:-
The Monigram-Nimtita Doubling Project has achieved a physical progress of 91 percent and financial progress of 89 percent. The Ahiran-Sujnipara rail doubling project has a major bridge which has been numbered as Bridge 340. The bridge is nearing completion. This 6.63-km-long significant rail infrastructure expansion project is progressing with remarkable achievements and a clear path ahead. The zonal railway has targeted to complete the project by next month.
Manigram-Nimtita Doubling Project update:-
The zonal railway has achieved 100 percent fabrication and erection completion from both ends at the second span measuring 145-metre. The work on the approach, earthwork, and track linking is progressing. It is likely to be completed by November 2023.
Other activities on Manigram-Nimtita Doubling Project:-
Several essential activities are currently in progress on the Manigram-Nimtita Doubling Project. A look at few other activities:
- Tightening and Torquing of balance HSF01 Bolts (approximately 68,000 )
- Jacking of the 145 metre Girder for various maintenance tasks.
- Erection of walkways, trolley refuges, and rail-related work.
- Additionally, critical activities for river training work are set to commence following the offset of the monsoon season.
Significance of Manigram-Nimtita Doubling Project:-
The Monigram-Nimtita doubling project aims to improve rail connectivity and capacity, ultimately enhancing transportation and boosting economic growth in the region. It will improve the connectivity between Southern and Northern part of the state bolstering socio-economic growth.
