Indian Railways is continuously working to connect the remote areas of the country with the rail link. It has also taken various initiatives such as redevelopment of railway stations, introduction of Vande Bharat Express, doubling and electrification of tracks etc. to enhance the travel experience of passengers and boost tourism.
In this context, the national transporter onThursday introduced two new trains and extended the route of two existing trains. These new train services have been launched for northeastern states and Jammu and Kashmir. It was flagged off by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday.

Train No. 15617/15618 Dullabcherra–Guwahati (tri weekly) train
The introduction of Train No. 15617/15618 Dullabcherra-Guwahati Tri weekly Train (ex- Guwahati – Mon, Wed, Sat & ex- Dullabcherra- Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday) will provide direct connectivity between remote area of Dullabcherra and Guwahati benefiting students, businessmen and traders of Dullabcherra.
Train No. 07688/07687 Agartala-Sabroom DEMU train
The introduction of Train No. 07688/07687 Agartala- Sabroom DEMU train will benefit people from the remote areas of the state and will enhance connectivity with the state capital, Agartala. It will also boost tourism in the state.
Launch of Vistadome coach
The railways has introduced Vistadome coach in train number 04688/04687 Budgam-Banihal train. It will boost tourism in the state and provide memorable journey experiences to the passengers.
Extension of trains:
Train No. 12519/12520 Kamakhya-Lokmanya Tilak Express
The train number 12519/12520 Kamakhya- Lokmanya Tilak Express (weekly) has been extended upto Agartala (Tripura). This will be the direct train service between the capital of Tripura and Mumbai. It will benefit people in the region, traders and patients in Tripura who travel to Mumbai for treatment purposes. The regular service of the train upto Agartala will commence from October 22, 2023 (Sunday) ex- Lokmanya Tilak Terminus.
Train No. 12514/12515 Guwahati- Secunderabad Express (weekly)
The train number 12514/12515 Guwahati- Secunderabad Express (weekly) has been extended upto Assam’s Silchar. This will provide direct connectivity between Barak Valley (Silchar) and Secunderabad. It will benefit people of lower Assam and areas bordering Barak Valley. The regular service of the train will commence from October 21, 2023 (Saturday) ex- Secunderabad.
