Patna: A foolproof summer safety plan has been implemented in all five divisions of the East Central Railway (ECR) as per the directives of the Railway Board to avert mishaps on tracks due to a sudden rise in temperature.
“All vulnerable places, including bridges, have been brought under surveillance of railway staff to maintain the smooth running of passenger and goods trains, either originating or passing through the ECR divisions. An action force team has also been set up for intensive track and bridge patrolling in peak hours from 11 am to 4 pm in each division,” said ECR chief public relations officer (CPRO), Birendra Kumar.
Besides, a special action force team, comprising senior officials, has been assigned the task to detect any fault in the tracks caused by excessive heat in summer. “In case of any fault, the action force team will immediately report the matter to ECR headquarters and the division’s safety control room,” the CPRO said, adding that damaged tracks would be repaired or replaced on a priority basis.
Under the guidelines issued by Railway Board and ECR headquarters railway safety, all divisions have been asked to ensure that mail and express passenger trains, including Rajdhani Express pass through vulnerable places only after a proper check of the tracks,” he said.
In addition to these safety measures, Railways has also started surprise inspections at different stations in all the divisions during day and night to check summer safety preparedness.
