Railways restores unreserved coaches in passenger trains

Patna: The railways have restored accommodation facility in unreserved coaches in all mail and express passenger trains to cater to the needs of common passengers.
The decision was taken following the directive of the Railway Board after the decline in the Covid-19 cases across the country. This decision is being implemented in each zone including ECR on a priority basis from March onwards.

According to ECR chief public relations officer ( CPRO ) Birendra Kumar, “Railways has decided to restore this facility in all long-distance mail and express trains originating from different stations falling under the ECR jurisdiction.
Railways have done away with unreserved accommodation facilities in the coaches of long-distance trains.
Now common passengers can travel in unreserved coaches obtaining unreserved tickets from unreserved ticketing system ( UTS ) counters for any station from the ECR jurisdiction.
Passengers will, however, follow Covid appropriate behaviour during the journey as per the directive of the railway ministry and ministry of home affairs.”
Besides, railways have also decided to replace four DEMU passenger trains with MEMU passenger trains on the Ara-Sasaram route of the Danapur division of the ECR from March 4 onwards. As per the new time schedule, Ara- Sasaram M EMU special (03671/03672) will now leave Ara at 7.20 am daily and reach Sasaram at 10 am the same day. On its return, it will leave Sasaram at 10.25 am and reach Ara at 1.10 pm the same day, the CPRO said.
Similarly another Ara-Sasaram MEMU special (03673/03674) will leave Ara at 1.35 pm and reach Sasaram at 4.35 pm.

On its return, it will leave Sasaram at 5 pm and reach Ara at 7.50 pm, the CPRO said adding railways has also restored services of Bhojudih-Chandrapura M EMU passenger train ( 08665/08666) in the ECR’s Dhanbad division from Tuesday.
According to the CPRO, the railways has extended services of Singrauli-Tanakpur Express (15073/15074) and Shaktinagar-Tanakpur Triveni Express (15075/15076) till March 31, 2022, to fulfil the needs of passengers travelling on this route of ECR’s Dhanbad division.
Both these passenger trains will, however, short terminate at Chopan and originate from there on their return journey to respective destinations till further orders.
The ECR has achieved a milestone in the freight loading segment which reached 150.07 million tonnes till February 27, 2022, in the 2021-22 fiscal. The ECR has already become the fifth member of the 100 million tonne freight loading club of the Indian Railways, the chief public relations official said here on Tuesday.
