Indian Railways Developing Unified App for Passenger Services: Ashwini Vaishnaw

In a move aimed at enhancing the digital experience for rail passengers, Indian Railways is developing a comprehensive mobile application that will serve as a one-stop solution for a wide range of passenger services. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed this initiative in the Lok Sabha while responding to queries raised by MPs B K Parthasarathi and Bastipati Nagaraju.

The upcoming app—referred to as a “super app”—will enable users to book unreserved train tickets, lodge complaints, check train availability, and perform several other functions seamlessly through a single platform.

Vaishnaw stated, “Indian Railways is developing a passenger service-focussed app. Passengers will be able to avail unreserved ticketing, lodge complaints, check train availability, and many more functions in a single app.”

The MPs had also asked about the timeline and development cost for the app’s commercial launch, indicating public and political interest in the digitization of rail services.

While an exact release date has not been announced yet, the development signals Indian Railways’ push toward integrating technology to make rail travel more convenient, efficient, and user-friendly for millions of daily commuters and long-distance travelers.
