Following the success of the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains, the Indian Railways is gearing up to launch the country’s first Vande Metro train, marking a significant milestone in India’s rail transportation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the new non-suburban Metro service today (September 16) that will connect Ahmedabad and Bhuj in Gujarat, to enhance connectivity and convenience for passengers in the region.
Along with this metro project, the prime minister will launch several new Vande Bharat Express trains on key routes, including Nagpur to Secunderabad, Kolhapur to Pune, Agra Cantt to Banaras, Durg to Visakhapatnam, Pune to Hubballi, and the highly anticipated 20-coach Vande Bharat train running from Varanasi to Delhi.

Vande Metro Train Timings
The country’s first Vande Metro will operate its service between Ahmedabad and Bhuj in Gujarat, marking a significant milestone in regional rail connectivity. The train is scheduled to depart from Bhuj at 5:05 am, with an expected arrival in Ahmedabad at 10:50 am, covering a distance of 360 kilometres, taking approximately five hours and 45 minutes. On its return, the Vande Metro will leave Ahmedabad at 5:30 pm and reach Bhuj at 11:10 pm the same evening.
Vande Metro Fare
The Vande Metro offers an affordable and convenient travel option with a minimum fare starting at Rs 30, including GST. However exact fare details are still being finalized, passengers can expect a one-way journey from Bhuj to Ahmedabad to cost approximately Rs 430, excluding GST. The Vande Metro train service will also provide flexible season ticket options: weekly, fortnightly, and monthly, priced at rates equivalent to Rs 7, Rs 15, and Rs 20 for single journeys, respectively.
