Indian Railways is set to revolutionize city travel with the Vande Metro, launching soon on the Ahmedabad-Bhuj route, offering fast, affordable rides starting at Rs 30.
Indian Railways is preparing to launch its brand-new Vande Metro, an urban transit service set to enhance connectivity between cities. The first route for this service will cover Ahmedabad and Bhuj in Gujarat, with a minimum fare starting at Rs 30. While excitement is building, the official launch date has not yet been disclosed, leaving passengers eagerly awaiting this modern transit option.
Operating six days a week, the Vande Metro will make regular trips along the Ahmedabad-Bhuj corridor. Western Railway has been instructed by the Railway Board to roll out this service as soon as possible. Additionally, there are plans to extend the service beyond Gujarat, with states like Kerala expected to benefit from this expansion in the near future. A successful test run of the coaches, manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, was completed last month, setting the stage for the upcoming launch.
The Vande Metro is an upgraded version of the older MEMU trains, designed with advanced features to improve the passenger experience. It will cruise at speeds ranging from 110 to 130 km/h, allowing for swift urban travel. Each 12-coach train will have a seating capacity of 100 passengers, ensuring adequate space for commuters during each journey.
Safety and comfort are at the forefront of this service, with the trains equipped with modern amenities like air conditioning, CCTV cameras, and automatic doors. These features are expected to offer a more secure and comfortable experience for passengers compared to existing train services.
As Indian Railways continues to innovate, the Vande Metro promises to be a game-changer for urban commuters, offering a faster, safer, and more comfortable alternative for city-to-city travel. With its expansion plans in place, this new service could soon become a staple of intercity transit across India.
