Mumbai Metro One, which operates on the Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova route, has achieved a significant milestone by recording 100 crore passengers ridership as of August 22, 2024, officials said.

The Mumbai Metro One, which was flagged off on June 8, 2014, had achieved the 50-crore mark in terms of ridership in January 2019.

Currently, Mumbai Metro One serves approximately 500,000 passengers on weekdays with 430 daily trips.

The service frequency is around 3.5 minutes during peak hours and seven minutes during off-peak times.

To enhance commuter convenience, the Metro has introduced several upgrades, including additional ticket counters, security checkpoints, and Automated Fare Collection (AFC) access points at various stations.

Notable improvements include new scanners and readers at gates, an additional escalator at the busy Saki Naka station, and improved connectivity to Andheri and Ghatkopar railway stations via new foot overbridges, which have increased ridership by around 20 per cent.

The Metro now also offers seamless connections with the new elevated metro Lines 2A and 7, which run along the Link Road and Western Express Highway between Andheri and Dahisar, respectively.
