The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has made notable advancements in healthcare services, reinforcing its commitment to the well-being of its employees, their families, and the wider public. Under the leadership of Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR, the railway has significantly modernised its hospital facilities, equipping them with advanced diagnostic tools, operating theatres, and Intensive Care Units (ICUs). A recent example of this progress is the introduction of executive cabins at the Central Hospital in Maligaon on 15th August 2024, aimed at enhancing patient care and ensuring timely, accurate diagnoses.
The Central Hospital at Maligaon has demonstrated its dedication to high-quality healthcare through its recent support for a major burn victim. Dr. P. Maheswari and Dr. B.P. Deka from the hospital presented a Samsung tablet worth ₹35,000, along with other gifts, to the young patient, whose recovery was significantly aided by a special ICU facility developed by NFR. This achievement highlights the hospital’s continuous upgrades, including the introduction of advanced diagnostic equipment and specialised services in cardiology, paediatrics, nephrology, and oncology. These improvements have reduced the need for patients to seek treatment outside the region. Additionally, the hospital has expanded its services with the opening of new AYUSH and RELHS clinics on 26th January 2024 and extended dormitory facilities for patient bystanders.
Aligning with the Digital India initiative, NFR hospitals have implemented electronic health records (EHRs), streamlining patient care and improving the coordination of medical services. Ongoing training and development for medical staff ensure that they remain proficient in the latest medical practices and technologies. Furthermore, NFR has actively engaged in community outreach, organising health camps and awareness programmes that have benefited thousands.
The hospital’s commitment to excellence in healthcare has been acknowledged through various accolades and awards received by its medical personnel for their dedicated service in life-saving endeavours.
