Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the approval of railway projects worth Rs 15,000 crore by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The projects, aimed at enhancing railway infrastructure and boosting economic development, were sanctioned following Majhi’s meeting with Vaishnaw and subsequent video conferencing.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Saturday that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved railway projects worth Rs 15,000 crore for the state. The approval came after Majhi’s meeting with the railway minister on July 27 during his visit to Delhi, where he also attended the NITI Aayog meeting.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Majhi stated, “You (Railway Minister) called me for five minutes to have tea in Delhi and you approved six projects for Odisha. Thank you very much.” The projects were officially sanctioned during a video conference on Saturday, which will significantly enhance the state’s railway infrastructure and aid economic development in backward districts.
Railway Minister Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of these projects, noting that they will connect western and southern parts of the state and create economic activities in northern districts. He also pointed out the increased pace of railway construction in recent years, from 40 km to over 300 km of new tracks annually. The central government’s Cabinet Committee approved the six projects, and proper monitoring will ensure timely completion.
