A significant milestone has been achieved by the Indore Metro with the recent arrival of a new 3-car train set for the Yellow Line, safely unloaded at the Gandhinagar Depot. Each new addition brings the Indore Metro closer to its goal of offering a modern and sustainable transit solution, enhancing the region’s development and connectivity.
he Indore Metro Yellow Line project spearheaded by the MPMRCL, has achieved another significant milestone with the safe arrival and unloading of a new 3-car train set at the Gandhinagar Depot. This addition marks a substantial step forward in the expansion of the Yellow Line, increasing the total number of train sets to six. This progress is a testament to the ongoing efforts to enhance the city’s mass rapid transit system, aiming to provide efficient and reliable transportation for the residents of Indore.
On this arrival, Shri Sibi Chakkravarthy, MD, MPMRCL, commends the team for this successful addition. Representatives from Contractor & Consultant, Team of Experts from Rolling Stock, Safety from Alstom India and General Consultant were present at the site.
About Indore Metro Project:
The Indore Metro Yellow Line covers approximately 31.55 km of length with 29 stations with 8.7 km of underground section with 7 stations to provide the metro rail connectivity to the northern and central parts of Indore City which are the busiest areas of the city.
Additionally, a depot line of length 1.02 km at Gandhinagar will be constructed. The Yellow Line will form a closed loop (Bengali Square – Palasia – Airport – Vijay Nagar – Radisson Square – Khajarana – Bengali Square (Ring Line)).
The entire Yellow Line will mostly follow the existing road network including Super Corridor Road, Airport Road, MR-10 road and Eastern Ring Road.
It is designed as an Integrated System with existing modes of transportation like Indian Railways, Airport, Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) to enhance its efficiency and maximise the ridership from ticketing viewpoint as well as integrating primary service and connections to the other traffic modes and secondary corridors.
The project will provide continuous availability of affordable, reliable, safe, secure and seamless transport systems in the urban agglomeration of the city, which will reduce the accidents, pollution, travel time, energy consumption, anti-social incidents as well as regulate urban expansion and land use for sustainable development.
