Indian Railways on Thursday (April 3) posted a breathtaking picture of a train gliding through a railway bridge over Savitri River near Sape-Wamane station in Maharashtra. Through this post on the micro-blogging website, X, the netizens can witness the enchanting spectacle as a train gracefully traverses the glistening waters of the Savitri River. 

The picturesque scene captures the essence of the region’s natural beauty, with the tranquil river serving as a stunning backdrop to the passing train. This mesmerising sight showcases the harmonious blend of man-made infrastructure and the serene landscapes of Maharashtra. 

“Feast your eyes on the captivating sight of a train serenely crossing the sparkling Savitri River near Sape-Wamane station, Maharashtra,” the Ministry of Railways said in a tweet. 

Indian Railways sets new record in freight loading

Meanwhile, Indian Railways reported that 1,591 MT were loaded in the financial year 2023-24 compared to 1,512 MT in 2022-23, marking a five percent increase. According to a railways official, the additional 79 MT loading is the highest ever for the railways in any financial year.

“We are rapidly progressing to accomplish ‘Mission 100 Percent Electrification’ and become the largest green railway network in the world. In the financial year 2023-24, 7,188 route km have been electrified, which is the highest electrification ever in the history of the railways. In the previous financial year, it was 6,565 route km,” a senior railway official said.
