Railway board notifies two new trains

Madural: The railway board notified two new train services between Mettupalayam and Tuticorin as well as between Mangaluru and Rameswaram. It also discontinued the Tuticorin – Tirunelveli special train running on Sundays.

In a notification issued on March 15, the board announced the introduction of Tuticorin – Mettupalayam – Tuticorin Bi-weekly Express and Mangaluru – Rameswaram – Mangaluru Weekly Express.

The date of commencement of services is likely to be announced after the Lok Sabha election results, officials said.

Train No. 16766 will start at 10.50pm from Tuticorin on Thursday and Friday and arrive at Mettupalayam at 7.15am the next day. Train No. 16765 Mettupalayam – Tuticorin Express will leave Mettupalayam at 8pm on Friday and Sunday and reach Tuticorin at 4.20am the next day. These trains with 18 coaches will stop at Kovilpatti, Sattur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Oddanchatram, Palani, Udumalaipet, Pollachi, Kinthukadavu and Coimbatore.

Train No. 16622 Mangaluru – Rameswaram Express will depart from Mangaluru at 7.30pm on Saturday and arrive at Rameswaram at 11.45 am the next day. Train No. 16621 Rameswaram – Mangaluru Express will depart Rameswaram at 2pm on Sunday and arrive at Mangaluru at 5.50am the next day. These trains with 22 coaches will stop at Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Shoranur, Palakkad, Pollachi, Palani, Oddanchatram, Dindigul, Madurai, Manamadurai and Ramanathapuram.
