The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on February 26, will lay the foundation for transformation of 554 stations under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This project is worth more than Rs 2,274 crore. Of these stations to be re-developed nationwide, 12 are under Mumbai suburban division namely Byculla, Chinchpokali, Diva, Shahad, Mumbra, Vidyavihar, Kurla, Matunga, Wadala Road, Sandhurst Road, and Igatpuri (outside suburbs).
Indian Railways have identified a total 1,309 stations across the country for upgradation and modernisation under the Scheme.
Apart from this, the PM will dedicate 1,500 Road Over Bridges (ROB) and Road Under Bridges (RUB) to be built across the country.
This year, Maharashtra has been allocated a budget of Rs 15,554 crore and 56 stations in the state are to be developed as world class railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme. Of these 56 stations,12 stations on Central Railway’s Mumbai Division are among those in for massive transformation and redevelopment.
