Good news for Mumbaikars! The Ministry of Railways is likely to introduce a train for the travellers to visit the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The consecration ceremony will be held at the newly constructed temple on January 22, 2024. It is being expected that the new train will be launched after January 24 next year.

Routes of Mumbai-Ayodhya Express train:-

Currently, there are no direct train services connecting the two cities. A new special train is being introduced for a dedicated journey, departing from Dadar railway station with a focus on the pilgrimage to Lord Ram. Ayodhya railway station falls under the jurisdiction of Northern Railway’s Lucknow Division. The existing train, LokManya Tilak Terminus-Bhagalpur Express (Train Number: 12165), takes approximately 20 hours and 15 minutes to reach Prayagraj Junction. Passengers then need to transfer to trains bound for Ayodhya, adding an additional five hours to the overall travel time to reach the final destination.

List of trains running/passing from Ayodhya railway station:-

Few trains passing from Ayodhya railway stations are – Kaifiyat Express, Farakka Express, Sadbhavana Express, Gorakhdham Express, Shramjeevi Express, Doon Express etc.

Redevelopment of Ayodhya railway station:-

The Ayodhya railway station redevelopment project is going on in full swing. The architecture of this rail station has been inspired from the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi temple. As on July 20, 2023, the zonal railway has completed several construction works like – station building, parking areas, external water supply, electrification and electrical installations. The scope of the work includes improved signages.

The Ayodhya railway station serves two rail routes i.e. (a) Varanasi–Jaunpur–Ayodhya–Lucknow and (b) Gorakhpur–Mankapur–Ayodhya routes. Earlier this year, the national transporter introduced Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train on a very special tour “Shri Ram-Janaki Yatra: Ayodhya to Janakpur” covering two most significant pilgrimage sites Ayodhya and Janakpur of Nepal.
