The Indian Railways is constructing a Road Under Bridge (RUB) near the Kamakhya Junction Railway station in Guwahati, Assam, to ease the traffic on roads. This RUB will replace the LC gate no. ST-1 and will thus facilitate a smooth flow of road traffic and foster safe & uninterrupted train operations.
It is important to remember here that a train from Anand Vihar Terminal railway station in Delhi came off the rails on October 11 as it raced to the Kamakhya Junction. The accident had led to the diversion of numerous other passenger and freight trains.
Indian Railways revolutionising connectivity
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is constructing this Road Under Bridge near the Kamakhya Junction Railway Station in Guwahati’s Maligaon area to ease the movement of vehicles on roads.
“Once completed this will replace Level Crossing gate no ST-1 having Train Vehicle Unit (TVU) of more than 15,00,000 ensuring safe movement of both rail and road vehicles in the area,” the Northeast Frontier Railway posted on X (Twitter), as reported by Guwahati Times.
This is the second-largest railway station in Guwahati after the famous Guwahati railway station.

Kamakhya Junction has recently enhanced its passenger amenities through collaborative efforts with the Union Ministry of Tourism. Apart from having a cloak room and CCTV surveillance, the station also offers the following services:
