The first electric traction train has run on the Khajuraho-Udaipura section, marking the complete electrification of the North Central Railway is now wholly electrified.
With this, the Indian Railways’ North Central Railway section has joined the Indian public transport service’s other sections to achieve this significant milestone.
The Railway Ministry shared a video on its official Twitter handle showing an electric train passing from the Ishanagar Railway Station
Eastern Railway finished its work on the Hansdiha-Godda 41-kilometer section earlier in the year. Ekalabya Chakraborty, the Kolkata-headquartered zonal railway’s spokesperson, said the entire Eastern Railway network of 2,848 km was now electrified after the completion of the commissioner of railway safety (CRS).
The electrification will help in reducing carbon emissions and will help in making India’s railway network carbon neutral. Konkan railway achieved it in March 2022, after the foundation stone for the 741 km route’s electrification was laid in 2015. The project’s total cost is Rs. 1,287 cr. The CRS inspected the Konkan Railway route in six phases.
