A goods train was derailed in Punjab’s Rupnagar on Sunday night after stray cattle came onto the railway tracks.
As a result, sixteen racks were derailed. The incident took place near Gurudwara Patha Sahib.
The railway track has now been blocked and will be opened for traffic by Monday evening. Eight trains have been cancelled.
Earlier, on Friday night, three coaches of the Dadar-Puducherry Express (Train no 11005) derailed near Matunga station in Mumbai after the engine of the CSMT-Gadag Express dashed it from the rear side. No injuries were reported after the incident.
