Western Railway GM travels by local train, seeks feedback

The railways is back with 95% services– both Western and Central Railway, and the ridership has also gone up by 4-5 lakh in just two weeks.
The ridership is around 33 lakh daily on WR and CR after the general public with double vaccines has been allowed to travel by local trains.
As crowds have increased during peak rush, Western Railway general manager Alok Kansal conducted surprise visits at railway stations, food stalls, boot polish counters and also travelled by a second class compartment of local trains on Saturday to seek feedback from passengers.

Kansal interacted with commuters of the 2nd class coach between Churchgate and Virar who were surprised and happy to give him their positive feedback, said a WR official. The GM also inquired with passengers if they needed any facility which was missing at stations or in trains.
He visited the boot polish wallahs besides inspecting tea stalls at Nalasopara station after getting down from a Churchgate local. “He checked food quality, rate charts, expiry dates on packaged food and whether proper bills were issued to customers;’ an official said.
